History

The Hillsborough Beautification Foundation (HBF) was established in 1998 after many years of discussion and research by Hillsborough citizens.  The Foundation began with an initial donation from the Hillsborough Garden Club.  The funds for this donation came from gifts in memory of Jack Gilpin, one of the citizens who strongly advocated the creation of such a foundation. Additional seed money was generously donated by a group of Founding Friends; prominent citizens committed to the creation of a local organization dedicated to the beautification of the Town.  This group of Founding Friends is honored on a permanent monument at Town Hall and listed annually in HBF’s newsletter.
